Many people choose to set up both. You can start your LPA at any time — before, during or after completing your Will. Once you have an account, everything is in one place and anyone you've already added is automatically available in both documents.
Lasting Power of Attorney
An LPA lets you appoint someone you trust to make decisions on your behalf — if you ever become unable to through illness, accident or cognitive decline. It must be set up while you still have mental capacity, so the sooner the better.
- It's not just for older people — accidents and serious illness can happen at any age.
- Without an LPA, your family cannot access your bank account or manage your affairs.
- Without an LPA, they cannot make medical decisions on your behalf.
- The court alternative (a Deputyship Order) is costly, slow and stressful — often taking many months.
- Property & Financial Affairs: Covers bank accounts, bills, property and investments.
- Health & Welfare: Covers medical decisions, care arrangements and life-sustaining treatment.
There is also a separate government fee of £92 per document payable directly to the Office of the Public Guardian when your LPA is registered. This is not charged by us.
- Guided step by step: We walk you through every decision in plain English — no legal jargon.
- Documents printed and posted: We check your entries, print your LPA documents and post them with clear signing instructions.
- Standard service: You sign the documents and send them to the Office of the Public Guardian yourself.
- Premium service: Return your signed documents to us and we check them and submit directly to the OPG on your behalf.
- Progress updates throughout: Clear updates at every stage so you always know where things stand.

Not sure which you need?
Here's a plain English explanation of each. Many people benefit from having both.
What is a Will?
A Will is a legal document that sets out exactly what should happen to your money, property and possessions after you die — and who you trust to carry out those wishes.
- Without a Will, the law decides who inherits — not you
- Unmarried partners have no automatic right to your estate
- You choose who looks after your children, if needed
- Prevents family disputes and costly delays
- Takes about 15 minutes for most people
